Dine at the Trendy and Remote La Copine
La Copine is a chic restaurant out in the middle of the high desert near Joshua Tree National Park. It’s a one-of-a-kind gem in a city with few culinary options.
Hike 49 Palms Oasis
49 Palms Oasis is a nice moderate short hike to a secluded palm oasis (you guessed it). The palm trees are clustered near an out of place spring of water in the middle of the arid desert.
The Perfect Weekend Itinerary for Joshua Tree
I’ve crafted what I would consider a perfect itinerary for those visiting Joshua Tree for the first timers. This is the perfect blend of activities to get a taste of the desert vibe. A little relaxation, some hiking, great food and sight-seeing.
Hike Goat Mountain to view the vast Mojave Desert
Goat Mountain in Landers is a lesser known trail that climbs about 1,000 feet to a beautiful view of the Mojave Desert. Grids of land to the south, and absolute nothingness to the north. What an amazing trail!
Visit Joshua Tree's Best Lookout Point at Sunset
Key's View is the best drive-up vista in Joshua Tree National Park. From the top you can see the Coachella Valley and the San Andreas Fault. You can also catch a view of Southern California's two highest mountains, Mount San Jacinto and Mount Gorgonio. On a clear day you can see California's largest lake, the Salton Sea.
Experience the Old Western Movie Set of Pioneertown
Just over two hours from Los Angeles, there is little desert city called Pioneertown near Joshua Tree National Park. This expansive western set looks frozen in the old western days of dust and tumbleweeds. You can wander, shop, eat barbecue, and sometimes watch live music in this quirky little town.
Book a Rejuvenating Sound Bath at Integratron
Integratron is a quirky and cute destination near Joshua Tree National Park in Landers, California. It's said to be situated on a powerful vortex of energy. Book a rejuvenating sound bath (meditation) far in advance, and hang out on the site at Hammock Village.
Go Backpacking in Joshua Tree with Shoestring Adventures
A 3-day journey backpacking through Joshua Tree National Park with Shoestring Adventures. We started at Indian Cove, and took well marked trails to Big Pine, then Willow Hole trail.
Hike Ryan Mountain in Joshua Tree
Ryan Mountain is a well marked trail inside Joshua Tree National Park. This is my favorite hike in Joshua Tree because of the expansive top-down view of the park from the 5,457 foot peak.
Visit Noah Purifoy Outdoor Museum
For the last 15 years of his life, Noah created ten acres full of art installations in the desert. Everything is constructed from junked objects and materials.
Visit the Dinosaurs of 29 Palms
In Joshua Tree right off Highway 62 there are cute metal dinosaur art installations on the side of the road that are free to visit. There's a gold mom and baby Brontosaurus, and two toothy meat-eaters. These dinosaurs were added in front of Desert View Homes to attract attention. They are also a fun stop for a quick snapshot if your visiting Joshua Tree National Park.
