Barbecue and Music at Joshua Tree's Most Famous Venue, Pappy & Harriets

Pioneertown was created for filming old westerns in the 40s. It's also home to Pappy & Harriets, which has great live music and draws in loads of talent to perform out in the middle of the desert. Sir John McCartney played there in 2016, and several other well known amazingly talented musicians play there on a weekly basis. There’s a small indoor stage, and a massive outdoor patio for bigger shows under the desert sky.

Pappy’s has a rustic western vibe with taxidermy nailed to the walls, old music posters and aged wood accents. Go to Pappy and Harriet’s to get some delicious barbecue American style, with some slaw and baked beans on the side. My personal favorite are their barbecue ribs! They also serve strong cocktails, and a good sized selection of beers. Go to Pappy’s for a slice of the desert vibe that you can’t get anywhere else, and check their schedule to see if any good bands are playing.
